Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) allows parents and community partners to donate their time, resources, and knowledge in support of the district’s primary goal to increase student achievement. Volunteers contribute in areas such as office and classroom assistance, extracurricular and community service activities, enrichment programs, career education, mentoring and tutoring.

ALL VOLUNTEERS must register through HISD (you’ll hear people say “registered through VIPS” or “cleared through VIPS”) and clear a criminal background check before spending any amount of time as a volunteer in any HISD school. 

YOU MUST RE-ENROLL EVERY YEAR

1. Go to https://www.houstonisd.org/VIPs#calendar347170/20231009/month and register or renew

1. Be sure to check in at the front desk.  You will need to show your ID and receive a printed badge.
